Pain

I have noticed grounding to be very effective in relieving menstrual pain and headaches. David Wolfe has reported that grounding (earthing) also works for many other types of pains, as long as the grounding device is directly on the painful body part.

I also heard that high doses of vitamin D can help for pain but haven't tested this myself so research this further, please, before trying.

See also entries in this library for the specific type of pain you are experiencing, e.g. menstrual cramps, headaches, arthritis, sciatica, neck pain, backpain, carpal tunnel syndrome, cubital tunnel syndrome and migraines.

Parasites

"Our world is teeming with one-celled natural creatures: yeasts, fungi, bacteria, and protozoans. They are present in our soils, on our foods, in our water, and in the air we breathe. We find them on our skin and inside our intestinal tract. They are everywhere. Whether they harm us, help us, or simply leave us alone depends to a large extent on factors that are within our control.

"'Bugs' are normal. Normally, most bugs mind their own business and live harmoniously inside or outside of us. A few are always disease-producing. Others attack us only when our body is run down and our immune system is not functioning properly, and it has been suggested that these bugs are scavengers that eat the molecular garbage in our body. Our body also has natural immune mechanisms at its disposal to protect us from being overtaken by these tiny organisms. [...]

"We need to restore the balance of friendly bacteria and yeast in our intestine, rebuild our immune system, and strengthen our body so that it can deal with bugs without help or interference. We do this with fresh vegetables, whole grains, wild fish, and organically grown meat (no pesticides, antibiotics, or steroids). Drugs should only be used in life-threatening emergencies. [...]

"By slowing down stomach emptying time, fats promote more complete digestion and help ensure that no undigested food enters our colon to feed yeasts, fungi, and strange bacteria. Fats and oils also inhibit the growth of fungi and yeasts.

"Short-chain fatty acids such as butyric acid (4:0) found in butter serve as food for beneficial bacteria in our intestine. Others, like caprylic acid (8:0) slow down the growth of yeast cells. Researchers believe that yeasts incorporate this fatty acid into their membranes, which thereby weaken and rupture, spilling the yeast's insides, killing it. [...]

"EFAs increase metabolic rate by increasing oxidation [...] Candida, yeasts, fungi, and some (anaerobic) bacteria thrive in environments with decreased oxidation, lower body temperature, and lower metabolic rate. They dislike oxygen. Increased oxidation inhibits their ability to proliferate out of control. [...]

"More specifically, [omega 3] fatty acids have been used in studies to kill both malaria and staph. Even better results can be expected if the treatment consist of a complete nutritional package that, besides [omega 3] and [omega 6] EFAs, includes zinc and vitamins A and C, which enhance immune functions, as well as antioxidants that snag free radicals produced by metabolism, bugs, and EFA oxidation. [...]

"Certain kinds of fiber provide food and for beneficial bacteria in our intestines. The most effective kinds of fibre for this purpose include fibre from okra, psyllium and flax.

"Strong hydrochloric acid in our stomach kills most of the bacteria that we take in with foods. Zinc and protein are required for its production. Enzymes ensure complete digestion of foods. A lack of stomach acid can allow bugs to survive our stomach and cause problems in our intestinal tact and colon. Lack of enzymes gives bugs more to feed on.

"Vitamin C has been used effectively against all viruses and bacteria against which it has been tried. The dose necessary for effective therapy against some viruses may be 30 to 40 grams per day, while that against other viruses may be as high as 100 or even 200 grams per day. If the dose is too low, maximum therapeutic effect is not obtained. Effective dose is determined by 'bowel tolerance' limit, beyond which diarrhea occurs."

- Udo Erasmus, in 'Fats that Heal, Fats that Kill, pp. 359-361

Parasites may be a much more widespread problem in humans than has been generally thought. The symptoms of parasites are extremely varied. Different types of parasites may include bacteria, yeasts, fungi, worms, lukes, viruses, fleas, ticks, louses, nanobacteria, etc. These may be present in the intestine, the liver, the lungs, the brain, the blood, inside the blood cells, and almost every other place in the human body. What is typical for parasitic organisms is that often they thrive in the parts of the body that are stagnant with not good blood flow, and many of them thrive in oxygen-poor environments and feed off sugar.

Blood electrification has been shown to be effective against single-celled parasites residing in the blood and the whole 'Bob Beck Protocol', including blood electrification, silver colloid and magnetic pulser should be studied and considered. The equipment can be purchased from Sota Instruments and Bob Beck's lectures are available online.

There are many well-known herbal cleanses for larger parasites, such as worms, which need careful study. Keep in mind that some of these herbs may be toxic in too large quantities. Some of the most commonly known ones include: wormwood, black walnut and cloves.

The more one can strengthen the immune system, the better it can fight off parasites on its own. But on the other hand, the more parasites can be cleared off the body fluids and tissue, the stronger the immune system gets.

A very important thing to keep in mind when fighting parasites is that the beneficial bacteria cultures of the gut should be kept intact and strengthened.

Colonic hydrotherapy may be a very useful help in this condition as well. And coffee enemas may help to some degree in cleaning and strengthening the liver.

David Wolfe provides a theory that calcification is caused by nanobacteria, which he calls calcium-forming organism. To read more about this and to study the proposed methods of cleansing these, please see the natural health remedy entry here on calcifications.

Parkinson's Disease

In Parkinson's Disease, the dopamine-producing cells in the part of the brain known as substantia nigra have been shown to degenerate. According to David Wolfe, dopamine deficiency of the brain is an essential problem in Parkinson's disease. Best natural source of L-Dopa - to increase dopamine in the brain - according to David Wolfe, is Kapikachhu (mucuna pruriens), a tropical legume.

Higher levels of estrogen is believed by some researchers to have beneficial effects in easing the symptoms of Parkinson's Disease. (Source: 'Effects of Estrogen on Cognition, Mood and Degenerative Brain Diseases' in Journal of American Pharmacists Association) However this point of view has been disputed and criticised by others. See also: estrogen deficiency.

PMS (pre-menstrual syndrome)

See: "Natural remedies for menstrual cramps" for a discussion on women's hormone imbalances, their causes and how to remedy these naturally.

"PMS has a strong component of fatty degeneration. Some women find relief with evening primrose oil supplements. Others get equally good results with flax oil or fish oils. The treatment depends on the exact nature of the fatty problem. The beneficial effect of essential fatty acids (EFAs) and EFA derivatives on PMS are related to their effects on prostaglandin production. Along with EFAs, PMS treatment should include vitamins B3, B6, and C, and the minerals magnesium and zinc. Vitamin E may also be helpful. Increased potassium and decreased table salt may help decrease water retention. Calcium and vitamin D may also help.

"On the other side of the equation, it is important to avoid sugar, hard fats, trans- fatty acids, and other altered, toxic, fat-related products that alter prostaglandin production. Margarins and shortenings should be avoided. Fats from land animals (beef, pork, mutton, dairy) should be minimized. Allergies to common foods may also be involved. These must be treated. [...]

"Like other degenerative conditions, [PMS] is the biological result of unbiological habits: malnutrition and internal pollution, and responds to nutrification and detoxification."

- Udo Erasmus: Fats that Heal, Fats that Kill, p. 350

Psoriasis

"What is the underlying cause of psoriasis? Anything that has a potential to cause long term damage to your microbiota and to your liver is the underlying cause of Psoriasis. To name a few: antibiotics, other medications, vaccines, heavy metals, other poisons and toxins, diet, infections, tobacco, constipation, hidden toxins in our foods and our environment. To cure psoriasis you must cure your liver, your GI tract and your microbiota and you must cure your life. A factor causing your psoriasis may be an allergy or several allergies, food intolerance, poor digestion, liver constipation, leaky gut, candida, dental infection, etc. Diet is an important element of almost any cure protocol. Colon cleansing, fecal transplant and liver flush (external link) may also be of great help to many people."
- Curezone.org newsletter, issue 202

You can read various success stories in treating and reversing psoriasis on the 'Psoriasis Support Forum' on Curezone.org.

Among other things, these are some of the experiences of people discussed on Curezone:

  • The pagano diet seems to work to clear psoriasis.
  • Raw virgin coconut oil supplementation cleared psoriasis.
  • Psoriasis was caused by a nickel allergy.
  • Being dairy-free helped clear up psoriasis.
  • Liver flush cured psoriasis.
  • Applying lanolin (wax) helped to keep psoriasis under control.
  • Daily fresh vegetable juices and coffee enemas made the psoriasis patches noticeably better quickly (less severe psoriasis).
  • Psoriasis healed permanently by:
    • Only using natural shower gels and shampoos (e.g. Avalon) that don't contain SLS (sodium laureth sulfite)
    • Application of healing cream on psoriasis spots 2-3 times per day (2 parts aloe vera gel, 1 part jojoba oil, liquid vitamin A (as retynil acetate or palmitate from pharmacy) or fish oil - contents of one capsule, a few drops of tea tree oil. Application of this cream once per day on the scalp as well in the case of scalp psoriasis.
    • Apple cider vinegar for killing the fungus in the scalp (also effective against dandruff). Cover with a towel and let it sit on your scalp for between 0.5-1 hour.
    • Liver cleansing diet.
      • Two glasses of warm water upon waking up. Then two capsules of evening primrose oil.
      • Fruit only breakfast, no citrus fruit.
      • Lots of chamomile and peppermint teas throughout the day.
      • Raw salads with greens good for the liver and cruciferous vegetables (cooked).
      • Early evening fresh juice: carrot, beet, celery.

Avoid all nuts if you have a sensitive stomach.
      • There is further lifestyle guidance as well, e.g. exercise.
      • Week 3: Introduce herbs: goldenseal, milk thistle, pau d'arco - ideally in tincture form.
      • Juice fast weekend before week 4.
      • Week 4 onwards: take good quality probiotics.
      • Weeks 5-8: introduce a more potent probiotic and start reintroducing all your foods gradually and looking for any adverse reaction. Eliminate any foods that cause itching or other bad reactions.
    • Psoriasis is an auto-immune disorder, which is basically an advanced type of allergy.
    • Psoriasis comes from liver and gastro-intestinal disorders and imbalances.
    • Normally psoriasis sufferers also suffer from other allergies, especially food intolerances, and/or digestive or bowel disorders. This is not a coincidence.
    • Most psoriasis sufferers will be affected by yeast overgrowth both internally and externally, which causes excess toxins to be released which puts a strain on the liver.
    • Psoriasis sufferers usually have pH imbalance of the epidermis (skin) and be more alkaline than healthy skin should be.
    • Books: 'Psoriasis Can Be Cured' by Dr. Robert Connolly, 'Gut Reaction' by Gudrun Jonsson, 'The Liver Cleansing Diet' by Sandra Cabot, M.D., 'The Integrated Health Bible' by Dr. Musaraf Ali.

    • Bad psoriasis got much better in four months with the avoidance of nightshade foods and 1,000mg cod liver oil every day.
    • Stress can cause psoriasis, changing his life to overcome his problems caused a 'miracle' healing in one man of psoriasis.
    • Eliminating food intolerances made psoriasis spots disappear. This person had no problem with citrus fruit, however, so it may depend on an individual which foods they need to avoid. [You can use the 'pulse test' to test for food intolerances for free.]
    • Bad case of psoriasis 'almost gone' by eating a diet of whole grains, no red meat, no nightshades, no dairy, more fruits and vegetables, as well as liver flushes and colon cleanse (Dr. Natura). Slow and steady process.
    • Psoriasis reduced by cutting out dairy, red meat, sugar and fried foods; eating more fruits, vegetables, lean meats; and taking vitamins.
    • Emu oil feels wonderful on the skin (using as the only moisturizer), dead sea salts are 'super'. Aquafina salt scrub once per week helps also.
    • Within about one month on the 'Gerson Therapy' the psoriasis was gone.
    • Swimming in the ocean for three days, about 1-hour per day, during vacation made some psoriasis patches disappear.
    • Elm tea and saffron tea helped initially but not after a while.
    • 'Leaky gut syndrome' is behind psoriasis.
    • Chinese skin doctor's treatments had pretty amazing results but were too expensive.
    • 'Slippery Elm Bark' and 'Wild American Saffron' have been phenomenal (Edgar Cayce's website gives more information on these). Powder forms, not pills. Pau d'arco blood cleansing herb helps as well. In addition: milk thistle and glutamines for intestinal rejuvenation, 1,000iu per day of vitamin D.
    • Not eating dairy helped clear psoriasis.
    • Etc.

Gwen Kimbro shares her story of healing psoriasis on the 'Psoriasis Self Management' website. She states the following:

  • The thyroid drug she took for hashimoto's disease made the psoriasis worse.
  • She found help from Dr. Pagano's book 'Healing Psoriasis'.
  • Dr. Pagano diet for psoriasis is high in alkaline and low in acid, and quite strict in the beginning.
  • She had to go through a period of clearing toxins in the beginning when her symptoms got worse.
  • After five months the psoriasis was completely healed.

There is also a Facebook group called: "Psoriasis Self Management".
